Our first product, OpenSPR, is a scientific instrument for the biotechnology research and development industry. It provides detailed information on molecular interactions using optical nanosensor technology known as localized surface plasmon resonance.

It is the most affordable SPR instrument on the market and has disrupted an industry that has been primarily dominated by highly expensive and complex instrumentation.


About the Role:

This role requires a passion for working with chemical components and complex processes.

You will primarily be responsible for executing various SOP to make and QC cartridge sensors, components and consumables for our new innovative Alto instrument.

The sensors and cartridge components you produce will support both our external customers and internal development teams. High precision will be very important. You'll be part of a small team of technicians working in the production lab and cleanroom.


What you will do:


  • Make and QC cartridge sensors, components and consumables
  • Perform simple, routine and complex operations.
  • Follow quality control protocols to ensure quality standards are met, and constantly strive to improve yield
  • Perform tasks under microscope
  • Use a laboratory oven, scales, vacuum chamber, plasma chamber, microscope and other equipment
  • Provide feedback on production process to drive continuous improvement
  • From time to time, draft and revise SOPs
  • Prepare chemical solutions, buffers and reagents following an SOP
  • Clean lab equipment
  • Enter quality and inventory data into ERP tracking systems
  • Maintain an organized workspace
  • Other tasks in production as required

About You:


  • High attention to detail
  • Able to stay highly focused when following a lab SOP
  • Fine motor skills for precision work
  • Proficient in pipetting using micropipettes
  • Ability to interpret QC data results
  • Familiar with basic laboratory practices and WHMIS
  • Have graduated with a diploma or degree in biotechnology, science, chemistry, or another technical program

Bonus if you have experience with:

  • High volume production
  • Working with tight mechanical tolerances
  • ISO 13485 environment
  • Cleanrooms
