Description

Reporting to Administrative Manager and the Managing Artistic Director, the
Communications Officer supports the team in the areas of communications, information technology, and development.


Communications Responsibilities

  • Work with management to create and execute Communications Strategies including social media campaigns, bus and radio advertisements, postering campaigns, recruitment advertisements, etc.
  • Work with the Artist and Patron Services Officer on recruitment collateral material creation and delivery to high schools, training centres, performance halls, studios, arts organizations etc. across Canada
  • Support direct and general communications with stakeholders including prospective students, donors, patrons
  • Draft and/or proof written content as required
  • Generating General and targeted newsletters through Constant Contact
  • Post and monitor on social media platforms as needed.
  • Track social media and box office data to inform strategies.
  • Capture photo and video content from events, classes, and productions as required
  • May edit videos for social media and YouTube.
  • Gather and compare pricing quotes for printed collateral, and submit orders to suppliers.
  • Ensure proper lobby signage, website and program content for audience advisories
  • Tracking and sharing alumni success stories
  • Additional daytoday administrative support as needed

I.T. Responsibilities

  • Provide basic internal I.T. troubleshooting for staff
  • Liaise with external I.T. support, and escalate issues as required
  • Manage and update College's website
  • Work with Box Office to provide HTML / CSS editing support for the Box Office software.

Qualifications
Skills and Abilities

  • Graphic design and editing skills an asset
  • Computer skills including experience with Microsoft platform and Google Suites
  • Experience with Constant Contact, Wordpress, and Adobe Suite
  • Excellent planning, organizational, timemanagement and team building skills
  • Selfstarter, detail oriented and flexible
  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills.
  • Public speaking and engagement skills an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the pursuit or educational development of the Performing Arts
  • Operates from and understands the ethical framework required in postsecondary institutions
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends at events and performances as required throughout the year.

Working Conditions
hours / week (4-5 days) schedule to be mutually agreed to.

  • Semiregular remote work is made available to staff.
  • The College requires staff at select evening and weekend events and work schedules will need to adjust accordingly. Accrued overtime hours are taken as time in lieu.
  • The College is committed to supporting work life balance offering flextime, 10 sick days and 8 personal days in addition to 2 weeks of paid vacation in the summer with an additional 1 week off over the winter holiday school closure.
  • After 3 months employees are entitled to a comprehensive Medical Benefits package including, dental, EQ Virtual Health Care, and an employee assistance program.
  • Parking Space and complimentary theatre tickets available
  • Fulltime Salary of $40,000 $45,000 per annum prorated hourly if a shorter work week is mutually agreed to.
  • Position start date: late May/early June
