Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Technical Manager to join our team based in Montreal.

In this role, you will oversee the product team's output, from technical planning to delivery, while also ensuring the achievement of overall objectives and initiatives set by stakeholders.


Your responsibility will include:
managing, leading and building an engineering team (both offshore in Egypt and in the Montreal area) ; being responsible for identifying and resolving performance or operational issues to enhance development efficiency ;

The responsibilities:

Tasks management and handling: Be responsible for managing tasks from start to finish: planning, estimation, execution, technical reviews, provide technical expertise and support to the team when challenges arise, ensure tasks are completed on time and meeting established quality standards.

Oversee your team: Be deeply involved in the day-to-day operations, including: team management, conflicts resolution, set goals and objectives for the team and individual team members aligning with company targets, conduct performance reviews and identify skill development opportunities for team members, conduct and provide feedback via 1:-
Promote quality: Promote a culture of quality, ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices as well as quality processes currently established in the industry. Ensure the entire team's output meet these standards by working with members to implement proper testing, perform pull requests reviews of both leads and team members and by conducting regular quality reviews.

Processes and procedures: Be responsible for developing and maintaining the team's processes and procedures, including but not limited to coding standards, testing procedures, and change management procedures.

Communication and collaboration: Be responsible for communicating with stakeholders, including product managers, senior management, as well as customers.

Support, coaching and mentoring: Provide support to colleagues and client ; coach and mentor the team by helping them develop their skill, knowledge and to help them grow.


The required qualifications:


  • 5+ years of experience as a fullstack developer, ideally in the context of a startup.
  • Strong technical skills, with real handson experience in Laravel 8+, workers, PHP7.4+, MySQL and AWS
  • Knowledge and experience in development flows, CI/CD pipelines in the context of GitHub actions, parallel test execution
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, and problemsolving skills.
  • Solid understanding of software development methodologies, agile practices, and project management principles.
  • Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Experience with Stripe a major asset.
  • Bilingualism (English / Arabic) a major asset, as the engineering team is in Egypt.
  • Bilingualism (French / English) a nice to have.
