Position Summary:


The Recreation Assistant, Business Services is responsible for accurately inputting and maintaining data related to the Division's programs, services, and operations.

This includes working closely with the Business Analyst to support research, municipal benchmarking, document preparation, and central filing system establishment for Divisional staff access.

The Recreation Assistant, Business Services will also prepare reports, compile documents, and conduct research to provide summary analysis and recommendations for future consideration.

The Recreation Assistant, Business Services will work cooperatively with all other Community Services Department team members to ensure a well-balanced service to the community and to the Recreation and Culture Division staff team.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Accurately input and maintain data related to the Division's programs, services, and operations.
  • Assist in research, variety of municipal benchmarking and provide a summary analysis, compile results and provide recommendations for future consideration. Research to include, but not limited to municipal tariff and fee rate comparisons, program information, gathering policies and procedures and municipal benchmarking of best practices
  • Prepare a variety of documentation, reports, and statistical information and correspondence for the Division
  • Prepare and compile documents (staff manuals, user guides, policies and procedures, partnership agreements, etc).
  • Organize and maintain files and establish necessary databases as required.
  • Attend professional jobrelated meetings as required.
  • Perform all administrative functions in accordance with City policy and procedure and applicable legislation.
  • Collect and enter data into various information management systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data
  • Monitor data entry processes to ensure data is entered in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintain and update existing data sets and reports
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new data management processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with other staff members to identify data management needs and ensure that data is being collected and used effectively to support division goals and objectives
  • Communicate effectively with the Business Analyst and other staff members to ensure that data is accurately recorded and analysed to support division programs and services
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Business Analyst and other various administrative duties for the Recreation and Culture Division as required

Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year related experience

Required Skills/Knowledge:


  • Proven recreation program development skills
  • Previous experience in data entry or related field preferred
  • Proficient in the use of data management systems and software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of municipal recreation and culture programs and services preferred
  • Experience using ActiveNet would be an asset
