***: The Good Food Program Cook prepares, and serves healthy meals to all women-identified and non-binary individuals and their dependants accessing services at Inasmuch House. Meals are provided in a congregate dining setting, and the Good Food Program cook is aware of issues related to domestic violence, trauma, and homelessness, and is able to interact with residents in a way that is sensitive to their needs and non
- judgmental. All staff work in accordance with Mission Services' vision to create a healthy and resilient community.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Coordinate with Mission Services Food Services Department about the inventory of food and basic kitchen supplies
  • Prepare meals that meet the needs of service users and that are within the program budget under the direction of the Food Services Leadership Team
  • Ensure that meals meet cultural and dietary needs of service users under the direction of the Food Services Leadership Team
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen
  • Ensure that a high standard of health and safety is maintained in the kitchen
  • Model professional behaviours and positive communication with serviceusers, staff, students and volunteers
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and trainings as required
  • Work safely, and identify and report any health and safety concerns to management, in accordance with Mission Services' Workplace Health and Safety Polices and Procedures
  • Adhere to a strict confidentiality policy
  • Adhere to all Mission Services and Inasmuch House and Shelter Standards polices and procedures
  • Other duties as required to ensure continuation of services under the direction of the Food Services Leadership Team

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with largescale food preparation and kitchen management
  • Preferred minimum diploma or degree in any of the following fields: culinary and or nutrition
  • Preference for experience working with volunteers or experience in a position that requires supervisory skills
  • Ability to prepare healthy and delicious meals for up to eighty 40 people
  • Knowledge of Canada Food Guidelines, basic nutrition and culturallyspecific cuisines
  • Sensitivity and ability to work in an environment that serves marginalized individuals (poverty, homelessness, trauma, abuse and addiction), while demonstrating and modelling good boundaries
  • Flexibility to work with a variety of food donations
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

HOURS OF WORK:


  • 37.5 hours per week; hours per shift 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with the ability to work weekdays and weekends alternating weekends off.

COMPENSATION:

- *Hourly wage: $19.19

- *Benefits after 3-months of continuous, active employment
- *Group RRSP employer matching up to 3% after one (1) year of continuous employment


REQUIREMENTS:


  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Two-Step Tuberculosis Skin Test
  • Valid Food Handlers Certification
  • Proof of two COVID19 vaccinations, or willingness to register to receive these vaccinations as soon as possible
