CONTROLLER

OBJECTIVE
Do you consider yourself an ambitious individual, a hands-on person, that does not want to be always stuck to their desk looking to grow in their career?

Well, We are looking for a progressively experienced accounting professional for a Controller position for our client.

You will play a critical role in the financial direction and success of overseeing a few portfolio companies by providing guidance, process improvement and leadership.

Our client has acquired a few portfolio companies and is looking to expand their portfolio with 2-3 companies a year.

This will provide a dynamic environment with immense career growth potential down the line.

As this Controller position can grow into a Director or CFO position in 3 to 4 years as the company progresses.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Reporting, Budgeting and Forecasting.
  • Management of financial health for maximised return.
  • Financial Analysis, and development of strategies for increased revenue.
  • Financial Controls, ensuring compliance and avoiding risks.
  • Collaboration with executive stakeholders and team members.
  • Advise and support decisionmaking.
  • Communicate financial performance and forecasts.
  • Streamline and enhance overall financial operations.
  • Implement best accounting management practices.
  • Stay abreast of accounting standards and industry trends.
  • Lead, mentor, and guide the finance and accounting team.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA is not required, but advantageous.
  • MBA is not required, but advantageous.
  • Progressive Accounting experience: Fullcycle Accounting and Financial closing.
  • Adept at financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong leadership qualities, handsoff person, with strong business acumen and independent worker.
  • Adept at Forecasting. Budgeting, and cash management.
  • Experience in inventory is preferred.
  • Experience with Canadian HST Reporting is a must.
  • Exceptional analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Background in private equity, investment banking, or management consulting is a bonus
  • Proven track record in implementing and maintaining solid financial controls.
This position will require some travelling across the GTA-West area, but you will be compensated per km.

In the beginning, you will visit the portfolio companies' sites more frequently, then as time goes on the position will work more remotely.

Important this position is for someone who is a self-starter not stuck to a desk.
