Automated Driving (L2+) and Autonomous (L4) technologies being developed at GM.

They will develop deep knowledge related to their system and be considered the technical expert for system design and performance.

The utilization of 'systems level thinking' will be key in this role. We are looking for a highly energetic and creative thinker who is addicted to an attention to detail.

We are looking for someone who can work with a high-performance team to manage the technology and process to ensure timely delivery of their modules.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Participate in agile projects related to the deployment of autonomous and automated functions inside the SDV teams at General Motors.
  • Contribute to the design management, and adoption of common DevOps platforms, including all necessary tooling.
  • Enable via the DevOps tools the ease development of autonomous vehicles systems design such as requirements definition, analysis, and development of their applicable system
  • Create and maintain applicable system/subsystem/component software traceability tools in DOORS Next Generation (DNG)/ Jama / Jira /Power BI
  • Provide technical leadership for advanced technology development
  • Collaborate with other System Engineers and Subject Matter Experts to define and negotiate key functional and performance requirements
  • Communicates information to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure deliverables are complete as per milestones with excellence
  • Responsible for compliance with GM processes and safety procedures
  • Represent the team globally as a key stakeholder to the product
  • Support and/or lead activities for customer outreach and education in these technologies and their respective use cases

Required Skills:


  • 2 or more years of experience as DevOps lead or manager or similar function
  • Knowledge of Python, Power BI, Jira, Gitlab
  • Good understanding of networking and infrastructure setup in a web hosting/delivery environment
  • Good understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery models and best practices
  • High level of oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a fastpaced environment with colleagues local and at remote sites
  • Basic project management skills
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and has a passion to shape the future
  • Strong technical leadership skills and an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Cumulative travel requirements of 2 to 6 weeks a year are typical, primarily to Michigan and other locations in the US
  • Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery and schedule commitment

Additional Job Description

Preferred Skills:


  • Understanding of System architecture (controls, protections, and monitoring) definition and validation.
  • Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as Advanced Driver-Assistance (ADAS), Motion Control, Automotive Network, and Powertrain
  • DFSS Blackbelt certification
  • Experience in Scrum methodology and the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience in automotive product release and specification process

Education and Training:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Advanced degrees preferred
