Reporting to the Director, Standardization, the Manager, Standardization provides leadership, planning and overall coordination/direction of effective, and integrated, system-wide product standards management for PHSA Supply Chain services.

The Manager is accountable for working with clinicians on standards of patient care and product standardization provincially by ensuring the appropriate levels of stakeholder engagement using effective communication and consultation to enable change management and thereby effective implementation within clinical communities (clinical engagement).

The role is guided by evidence-based research and the goal of continuous improvement in patient outcomes. Central to this position is leading a team of Supply Chain Clinical Coordinators.

The teams are responsible for mitigating risk to patient care and staff safety by managing supply disruptions, recalls, product concerns and new product requests for medical devices, as well as supporting the development and implementation of the Supply Chain's strategic contract management plan.


What you'll do

  • Leads the day to day operations of a clinical team, providing leadership and mentorship to a team of clinical specialists that facilitate product implementation with multidisciplinary clinicians, from physicians to technologist, across the province ensuring consistency to maximize the realization of savings to the health care system as a whole.
  • Leads a team in the development of provincial practice, processes and supporting tools for medical devices recall, product concern, product change and new product request management which includes negotiating and concluding processes with internal stakeholders, to ensure that staff and patient safety is safeguarded. Tracks performance of Supply Chain services teams in addressing service delivery, risk management, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provides leadership, guidance and supervision to staff using effective leadership techniques (e.g., coaching, mentoring, skills and leadership development and performance management, including performance reviews.) Provides direction on workload and work assignments. Participates in staffing decisions related to recruitment, retention, discipline, and termination.
  • In collaboration with the Director, the Manager participates in making recommendations and developing an operational plan and allocation of internal resources budgets to enable delivery of standardization management plan and appropriate service delivery standards within the fiscal restraints of the department. Monitors expenses, reports on variances and recommends remedial action.
  • Oversees and implements the plan through appropriate interpretation of policies and department practices. Develops, monitors, evaluates and maintains work procedures and processes for the area by reviewing existing processes, drafting new processes, documenting and reviewing changes and advising internal and external stakeholders on new and/or changed procedures and processes.
  • Acts as a change agent by establishing and leveraging relationships, provides best in class change management, and experience in fostering the provincial supply chain perspective to promote and facilitate innovation in patient care delivery and product utilization along with a high level of customer service. Identifies and reviews impact of product changes in a complex, multiple site supply chain network and provides recommendations. Escalates high risk/clinically sensitive change management to Director or designate.
  • Provides leadership, direction and education to internal and external stakeholders, including other Health Authorities, around PHSA Supply Chain provincial processes and supporting tools for managing product recalls, product concerns, product changes and new product requests. Negotiates and facilitates process change and conclude processes with internal stakeholders. Communicates information to appropriate stakeholders as required.
  • Works collaboratively with Value Analysis Teams and clinical and business leaders to facilitate recommendations for promoting innovation in health care and health care technologies. Supports clinicians with information on impact of product utilization in evidenceinformed patient care, bringing forward lessons learned across the province.
  • Engages with and provides consultation to Health Authorities to ensure awareness of trends in product utilization, pricing, technological development, innovation and market trends and risks. This includes process improvements in how product is acquired, distributed and
