Clinical/Certified Counsellor
St.
Leonard's Society of North Vancouver is a 14-bed community residential facility (halfway house) that provides community reintegration services and residential drug and alcohol treatment to adult males returning to the community following a period of Federal or Provincial incarceration.

Clinical counsellors in our counselling department are required to provide the following services:
- Intake assessment
- identifying goals and needs. This may include issues regarding substance abuse, mental health, life skills etc.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individual treatment and aftercare plans.
- Treatment planning and addressing individual correctional plans
- Group facilitation cognitive processing and psychoeducational groups centered around substance abuse.
- Individual counselling to adult males with various issues including but not limited to substance misuse problems, trauma, and attachment related issues.
- Handling confidential secure information utilizing the Offender Management system (OMS) and secure practices
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Clinical counsellor must possess Master's Degree in counselling psychology/ social work. Certified counsellor must possess a bachelors degree and a certificate/diploma in Substance abuse and Addictions. Please note that applicant's education and degree must be from a recognized Canadian and/or American university.
- Must have at least 1 year of relevant work experience and provide references.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work with challenging and resistant clients using motivational interviewing skills and counselling techniques.
- Must have comprehensive knowledge of psychotherapeutic counselling skills.
- Knowledge of 12 stepbased recovery model, specifically Narcotics Anonymous would be a considerable asset.
- Responsibly manage assigned caseload and attend weekly clinical meetings and monthly staff meetings.
- Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication of the English language.
- Must have the ability to deliver thorough written reports punctually.
- Must possess a valid Occupational First Aid (OFA) level 1 certificate.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment and prioritize your workload independently.
- Must be eligible for a Government of Canada Reliability Level Screening Certificate.
- Must have the ability to follow government directives including CRF policies and procedures.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours.
- Proficiency in OMS is an asset, employer will provide training offered by the Correctional Service of Canada.
Salary:
$24.00-$33.00 per hour
