Position Summary
UHN's Krembil Brain Institute

The Krembil Brain Institute (KBI) offers outstanding care in all neuroscience medical specialties (neurology, neurosurgery, neuropathology, neuroradiology, and neuropsychology).

We're internationally renowned for our programs in spinal cord injury, complex spinal surgery, functional neurosurgery, stroke and neurovascular disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, neuro-oncology and epilepsy.

KBI is also home to Canada's premier ophthalmology and vision science department.


The Krembil Brain Institute at Toronto Western Hospital is home to one of the world's largest and most comprehensive multidisciplinary teams working hand-in-hand to prevent and confront problems of the brain and spine.

One in three Canadians will experience a brain-related condition such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Epilepsy, Stroke or Concussion, in their lifetime.


Our multidisciplinary team of Neuroscience Medical Specialists, Nurses and Allied Health professionals, work together to provide expert care in a supportive environment.

Through leadership, research and education, we are searching for new ways to prevent, treat and cure neural and sensory system disorders.


Duties


As a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, the principal responsibilities of the MANAGER - Ambulatory Clinics (Interim) include: calling upon your sound judgment and strong leadership abilities to lead and develop a department focused on delivering quality patient care; building and maintaining a highly functional team; developing and managing fiscally responsible budgets; participating in strategic planning; assessment, implementation and evaluation of departmental activities; facilitating and promoting professional, personal development and educational activities for staff and patients and families; performing administrative functions; facilitating departmental meetings; ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff; maintaining liaison with patients and family members; resolving patient care issues and concerns; performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

Your experience leading change management initiatives will be critical to your success.


Qualifications

  • Completion of a Masters Degree program in Health Administration, Health Management, or related field or recognized equivalent
  • Five (5) years progressive experience in a Clinical Supervisory role, in Neurosciences area preferred
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of collaborative networks, primary care, and integrated health systems
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Ability to work in a self directed manner
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
