The Opportunity:

To manage a portfolio of loans to the highest industry standard with team members ensuring all terms of the commitment letter (including all supporting agreements) are performed by the borrower to the benefit of our investors and also responding to any reasonable borrower requests that are consistent with the terms of the commitment or are approved by the investor

  • Responsible to review and analyze portfolio statistics, in depth understanding and ability to make sound decisions and recommendations on financials such as: rent rolls, operating statements and financial/net worth statements.
  • Manage assigned high value mortgage portfolio proactively to ensure that all required conditions for commercial mortgages are fulfilled and to satisfaction of investors and CMHC
  • Thorough knowledge in all aspects of commercial lending including underwriting, commitment clauses, certificate of insurance and property insurance and insurance claims, holdback and reserves.
  • Ability to review third party reports including appraisals environmental reports, and BCA reports.
  • Expertise in performing independent analysis and providing recommendations and approvals on mortgage related property changes such as: easements, severance of lots, property insurance, expropriations, penalty calculations, undertakings
  • Accountable to provide first level of review for approval processes.
  • Effectively interface with borrowers, consultants and investors and solicitors.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple internal departments such as Origination, Funding, Renewal, Default and Investor Relations
  • Excellent communication skills in handling inquiries from investors, clients, consultants and solicitors.
  • Adherence to policy and procedures, service levels and compliance
  • Able to mentor and lead by example
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to maintain and handle high volumes.
  • Recommend and provide process improvements in order to build efficiencies
  • Proven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Complete special projects as assigned by management

The Requirements Needed:


  • Post secondary education and/or equivalent work experience preferred
  • 57 years of experience in Financial Services, Mortgages, preferably in commercial mortgages
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Commerce or related required
  • Advanced MS Office skills with emphasis on Word and Excel
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal including confident and assertive telephone manner, as well as providing excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proven organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Strong analytical personality
  • Team player with ability to perform extra duties as assigned
