Job Summary:

Operate a variety of equipment to load, unload and move materials and products. Pick orders and stock. Make labels and attach them to goods. Crate goods. Maintain and organize the inventory. Operate computerized inventory control systems.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Load, unload and move products and materials by hand or using basic material handling equipment
  • Perform other material handling activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing, and unpacking
  • Operate winches and other loading devices to load and unload materials onto and off trucks, railway cars, and loading docks of warehouses and industrial establishments
  • Operate industrial trucks, tractors, loaders, and other equipment to transport materials to and from transportation vehicles and loading docks and to store and retrieve materials in warehouses
  • May perform other activities, such as opening containers and crates, filling warehouse orders, assisting in taking inventory, and weighing and checking materials
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents
  • Record shortages and reject damaged goods
  • Unpack, code, and route incoming goods to the appropriate storage area
  • Prepare bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents
  • Record all inventory discrepancies to appropriate personnel
  • Verify production has the required materials at all times
  • Perform inventory counts to ensure inventory accuracy

Other Duties, but not limited to:

  • Maintain and clean working area
  • Check computer systems for material locations and inventory status
  • Other duties as decided by the supervisor

Qualifications:


  • Physical strength is required for manual material handlers who work with heavy materials
  • Forklift Operators and Pallet Jack operators experience an asset
  • Previous experience in production/warehouse environment
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and hazardous goods
  • Able to operate a computer
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Reading and writing skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of using computers (AS400 an asset)

Working Conditions:


  • 40hour work week (Monday to Friday, eight (8) hours per day)
  • Fastpaced manufacturing environment
  • Physically demanding
  • Frequent standing, bending, walking, and stretching
  • Lifting of light and heavy materials
