What You Will Do:
GFT is seeking a Project Manager, Submittals to support the needs of several heavy civil/rail infrastructure projects in the GTA region. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto office.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Manage submittals team and the full submittal process, ensuring timely, accurate submission, review, and approval of all project documentation in compliance with contract requirements and specifications.
- Develop and maintain the submittal schedule, track and report submittal status, and ensure all records, logs, and files are accurate and up to date. Prepare, distribute, and coordinate submittal packages, proactively follow up on outstanding items, and resolve issues to keep reviews on schedule.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, subcontractors, and clients to ensure clear communication of submittal requirements, status, and approvals. Serve as the primary liaison for all submittal-related inquiries and facilitate resolution of discrepancies.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents to verify submittal completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Maintain quality control standards, address non-compliance issues, and support continuous improvement of the submittal process.
Prepare regular submittal status reports and maintain detailed records of revisions and approvals.
Education | Experience:
What you will bring to our firm:
- Proven experience in submittal management within the construction or engineering industry.
What we prefer you bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
- 10 years of relevant experience, with 2 years in the role of Submittals Manager
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Strong time management, attention to detail, written and verbal communication, problem-solving, organization, technical proficiency, and teamwork skills. - Proficiency in project management software and document control systems
- Knowledge of construction contract documents
- Knowledge of Metrolinx Project Agreements, specifically Schedule 10
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $107,700 - $140, Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
