The Ontario Operations Human Resources (HR) group plays an integral role in the employee lifecycle, delivering core services that support the goals of business client groups and promote a positive experience in line with Vale's employer value proposition.

The team consists of enthusiastic group of HR professionals who meet regularly to share learnings, solve HR challenges and "Dig Deep" together to provide quality HR service to our clients.


The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a
Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our
Human Resources team in
Sudbury. This is a 12-month fixed-term position.


In this role, you will provide guidance and offer creative solutions to plant management on all HR related matters including but not limited to employee and labour relations, career and succession planning, performance management, grievance management, compensation, recruitment amongst others.

You will be focused on equipping leaders with the required tools and training materials to strengthen employee relationships and foster employee engagement.

You will also actively facilitate various change management initiatives, participate in various joint committees and/or HR special projects as required and be an integral member of the leadership team at your assigned mine facility, playing a key role in Vale's cultural transformation at the site.


Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Lead the plant specific grievance administration process including arbitration case management and conduct quality workplace investigations.
  • Provide advice on compliance with applicable legislation such as the OHSA, Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Code, AODA, and/or Vale specific policies.
  • Support Vale's Production System leadership dimension including behaviour and commitment of leadership, people management, training, and organizational design
  • Coordinate and deliver HR training materials, including facilitating HR/LR related training to new supervisors
  • Support implementation of human resources processes including the annual people development cycle, salary planning and coordinate the annual headcount budget cycle.
  • Support employee development by assisting with performance management tools including individual development programs, performance improvement plans and corrective action.
  • Support workforce planning initiatives including movement of talent within our organization and conducting exit interviews.
  • Site focal point for all leadership development programs.
  • Efficiently plan and execute people initiatives that contributes to plant performance and delivers business value while supporting the development of Vale's expected key behaviors, diversity and inclusion, and safety goals.
  • Develop care for our people and champion personal and career wellbeing.

About You

Education:


  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Labour Studies, Human Resources or a related discipline.


  • Human Resources Management

  • Graduate Certificate preferred.
  • CHRL designation preferred (or working towards this).

Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a related Human Resources generalist function with increasing responsibility.
  • Experience working in a unionized workplace providing labour relations support is preferred
  • Although previous experience in a mining or an industrial setting is considered an asset, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences and that is what makes us great
