ABOUT THE JOB:


We need an ambitious and organized leader in the role of Production Supervisor at our Thermos Road facility to supervise hourly Associates and lead the PM Shift in efficient operation of production.

We are looking for someone who holds their work to a high standard.

The Production Supervisor needs to be comfortable with leadership, not just capable of guiding their team to success, but also able to contribute strategic ideas to the business's other leaders.

We are looking for a business partner who can bring their own experience and expertise to help improve processes and workflow.

The Production Supervisor should have an exceptional focus on quality, food and employee safety, and have excellent knowledge about adding efficiency in yield in production.

This is primarily morning shift position. Experience working in Food Manufacturing industry is required.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Performance Management

  • Organizing workflow and ensuring that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks.
  • Monitoring employee productivity and providing constructive feedback and coaching
  • Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and undertake disciplinary actions if the need arises.
  • Resolve worker problems or complaints; be adept at conflict management.
  • Conduct necessary shift briefings and ensure all scheduled shop floor meetings are conducted.
  • Communicate all Company policies and procedures, including Good Manufacturing Practices.

Health and Safety Responsibilities

  • Ensure that workers comply with the OHSA and regulations.
  • Ensure training of workers in safe work practices and job safety requirements associated with a particular job process; i.e. provide induction training to new/transferred workers and reinforcement training to regular employees.
  • Report and investigate all incidents/ accidents resulting in personal injury/ property damage.
  • Ensure inspection of operating equipment and working environment to make sure that all standards are met to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Regularly evaluate worker safety performance and provide regular feedback including corrective measures.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinate schedule (including changeovers) and materials for production and or packaging.
  • Process production data through the JustFood System, including the direct analysis and entry of consumption data. Ensure that output data is properly entered and reconciled. Ensure that day bins are analyzed and emptied in a timely manner.
  • React quickly and make appropriate decisions when required.
  • Ensure all required sanitation and cleaning procedures are completed.
  • Complete, verify, and analyze necessary paperwork/reports within timeframes specified, including preop inspections, CCP's, incident/accident Investigations, HACCP, time and attendance, packaging procedure verifications, daily operating reports, staff variance reports, production planning forms, Labour scheduling.
  • Promote continuous improvement activities and offer suggestions.
  • Work closely and assist Maintenance department to ensure mechanical downtime is minimized. This includes attempting to troubleshoot and identify root causes behind downtime, following up on corrective actions to avoid future breakdowns, and ensuring that all downtime is recorded.
  • Communicate with the QA department including reporting quality and/or food safety issues.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:


  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in food manufacturing environment preferred
  • Previous experience as a Supervisor or Team Lead is preferred
  • Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal/team skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving and decisionmaking skills, recognize when action is required, develop, evaluate and execute effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to safety and process improvement.
  • Strong time management, planning & organizational skills with the ability to multitask work/ prioritize.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with adaptability to change.
  • Must have basic operational knowledge of all equipment and be able to temporarily operate equipment while the operator on duty goes for lunch or break.
