Position Summary


Reporting to the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manager or designate, the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Coordinator will act as the ambassador for IGPC's health, safety and environmental initiatives and policies.

The HSE Coordinator is a focal point in the development, coordination, implementation, validation, and ongoing administration of IGPC's Health, Safety, and Environmental programs, ensuring compliance with all IGPC Health, Safety, and Environmental Procedures.


As the HSE Coordinator, you will live the culture that keeps health, safety and environmental initiatives and policies in the forefront of everyday business and coordinate inspections of all safety systems within the designated timelines.

The HSE Coordinator will be an individual who is comfortable with administration, research, training, facilitation, and communication. The HSE Coordinator will always demonstrate safe behaviors and provide coaching and advice in all HSE matters.


Minimum Qualifications and Skills

Qualifications

  • Must have Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have relevant Health, Safety and Environmental experience and/or have served on a Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of training and maintenance programs.
  • Demonstrate an ability to successfully interact with all levels of the organization as well as the public.
  • Demonstrate a proficiency of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of computers and businessrelated software.

Skills

  • Direction of Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives requires significant relevant knowledge as well as advanced interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

  • Educate and communicate all Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation as it relates to IGPC. Promote and support all safety policies. Work with all departments to establish safe minimum levels of maintenance.
  • Work with the management team to plan and coordinate all safety and environmental training.
  • Coordinate, deliver and document all environmental training, testing, and audits.
  • Deliver safety orientations.
  • Work with Management Team to ensure compliance with all IGPC HSE Procedures.
  • Oversee the collection of Monthly Safety Statistics and coordinate inspections of all safety systems within designated timeframes.
  • Monitor coordination of internal incident reporting and followup, as well as internal and external safety audits.
  • Facilitate any WSIB reporting, as needed, with the cooperation of Human Resources.
  • Facilitate the workplace accommodation requirements and support safe returns to work.
  • Manage and maintain PPE inventory, including audits and record keeping.
  • Coordinate, manage, and record all safety documents for Contractors and Carriers.
  • Coordinate and manage the removal of all waste, hazardous and nonhazardous.
  • Coordinate and manage facility cleaning and lawn care.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate best practices in environmental initiatives and regulatory changes.
  • Ensure field water quality analysis is completed and receives laboratory analysis.
  • Coordinate pest management activities.
  • Receive notification of incidents 24/7, initiate and actively participate in investigations, administers reporting and followup in a time sensitive manner.
  • Maintain awareness of amendments to the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and Regulations and make recommendations for their implementation.
  • Act as key contact for the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
