Job specification:


Responsible for the operation and inspection of Core equipment which may includes bulldozers, compactors, excavators, articulated trucks, loaders, graders forklifts, roll off truck and skid loader as assigned by facility leadership team.

The Heavy equipment operator will perform the following duties personally.

  • Responsible for the safe operation of the site's equipment in the assigned areas such as inside and outside Facility buildings, docks and tipping floor.
  • Responsible to perform minor maintenance and adjustments on equipment using tools and parts provide by Covanta.
  • Responsible for conducting daily motorized machinery inspections on the site's equipment.
  • Responsible for aiding and tracking processing levels, properly filling out paperwork and turning in to supervisor daily.
  • Aide Supervisor with carrying out security procedures such as the wanding in and out of personnel, signing in and out of log and ensuring doors and gates to facility are always closed and locked.
  • Adhere to SOP for Shredder operation as well as support with any maintaince on the shredder if needed.
  • Ensure work area and machinary are clean daily.
  • Able to wear a respirator on the job (must be clean shaved)
  • Able to operate equipment in such a way to ensure safety of people as well as care of exisiting structures, vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Operations Supervisor.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, technical procedures, operating and maintenance instructions, and other procedure manuals.

Ability to speak and communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

OTHER SKILLS and


ABILITIES:

Ability to take appropriate safe action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or injury to personnel during emergencies or unusual situations.

EDUCATION and/or


EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous experience in the operation of mechanical equipment is desirable.
