We are hiring a highly talented Research Analyst to support the ongoing work of the Policy Development team.

The Policy Development team works with industry members to address policy issues related to the financial soundness with the purpose of bringing the insurance sector's perspective on financial regulation issues to the public policy agenda of federal and provincial governments and regulators.


You will report to the Senior Economist and work closely with a group of professionals in the Policy Development, Communications and Legal teams, as well as IBC's regional offices.

This role is based in downtown Toronto, with a hybrid work model.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support IBC's policy development process by providing quantitative and qualitative research and analysis on a variety of public policy issues, related to financial regulation
  • Synthetize research/analysis accurately, clearly and concisely and develop policy submissions, presentations and briefing notes for a variety of internal and external audiences
  • Collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative industry data
  • Conduct highquality analytical and research projects
  • Coordinate committee work including producing agenda and minutes for meetings
  • Complete other projects that may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in economics, finance, public policy or a related field
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in working on economic or policy issues
  • Experience with research projects, preparation of presentations and written reports
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team and have demonstrated adaptability and flexibility, especially under tight deadlines
  • Selfstarter with a positive attitude
