Position Summary:


As a member of the Facilities team, the Corporate Properties Coordinator provides operational direction of City facilities maintenance in support of the City's overall operations and development.

This includes, but is not limited to day-to-day operations and maintenance of all City building, supervision and mentorship of Building Maintenance Operators, contract management and communication with all City staff.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Provides operational direction, expertise and advice in the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of: Daytoday operations and maintenance of all City facilities including air conditioning, electrical, water, sewer; regular maintenance, office renovations, office moves, inhouse janitorial tasks, facility system upgrades; routine inspection and review of the operation of building systems; provides input to the Manager, Environmental Services regarding lifecycle management; respond to building maintenance requests.

Contract management:
develops, manage and administer contracts and preventative maintenance schedules; oversees contracts for janitorial and general site maintenance issues.

Communication with all City staff:
gains understanding of concerns, develop practical solutions, identify new ideas and opportunities to enhance productivity.

  • Participates in the assessment of the current and future needs of the Facilities team, exploring partnership and funding opportunities, cost and operating efficiencies; assists with annual budget process as required.
  • Participates in negotiations, contracts and agreements with service providers and partners.
  • Provides input into and implements City policies and procedures.
  • Appropriate and responsible use of confidential information; maintains confidentiality and security of all information related to the City.

  • Ensures a safe and healthy work environment for staff, visitors, the community and stakeholders, e.g., participates in workplace safety initiatives, participate in formal and informal worksite safety and environment inspections and audits, ensures compliance with the City's Health and Safety Management System, reports and assists in the analysis of near misses or incidents.
  • Participates as a member of the Chestermere Emergency Response team in preparing and enabling the community to respond in the event of a local or regional disaster.

Required Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 7 years of related and progressive experience including 2 years of supervisory experience.
  • Millwright or Journeyman Certification or a combination of education and experience in a related field.
  • 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate considered an asset.

Required Certifications and/or Documentation:


  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's Licence and Drive's Abstract deemed satisfactory by the City.
  • Criminal Record Check deemed satisfactory by the City.

Expected Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of the City's OH&S guidelines.
  • Analytical and creative thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Communication skills, both verbal and written; maintain positive and effective working relationships with staff and other stakeholders.

  • Strong work ethic and highly motivated; ability to work in a fastpaced environment and respond to action requests in a timely manner.
  • Basic proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook).

Working Conditions:


  • Physical abilities: regularly performing a variety of manual tasks requiring physical ability and dexterity. Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull items weighing more than 50lbs. Regularly crouching, crawling, climbing and other nonstanding positions to complete job tasks.
  • Physical environment: may require some outdoor work; moderate odours, dust or fumes may cause discomfort/irritation to eyes or respiratory passages. Exposure to both hot and cold temperatures. Loud noises from equipment/machines.
  • Regularly scheduled oncall. May be required to work after regular office hours (evenings, weekends and holidays).

Job Types:

Salary:
$70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
