Canadian Mattress Recycling is a local, woman-owned and operated business. We value and take the zero-waste challenge seriously and strive to help our clients reduce their environmental footprint.

Did you know?

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, in 2018 about 17 million tons of têxtile waste ended up in landfills in the USA.

As we at CMRI strive to reach environmental goals and support our local economy and communities, we are seeking Volunteers to help us Please consider supporting our effort by helping us repurpose our good-condition upholstery fabric to reduce the impact of têxtile waste.

Note_:_ _we _can_ _only_ supply the _upholstery _fabric_ (other supplies_ such as sewing _machines_ and thread will not be _provided)._ You can use your own pattern or find lots of free ones online_
If you would like to make throw cushions or pet beds, we can also provide the _polyester_ filling for them._

The Key Activitie

position include:

Using the provided recycled fabric to sew new useful and/or creative pieces such as reusable shopping bags, small pouches, book bags, drapes, throw cushions, pet beds, clothing, etc.
Donating the final pieces to local charities _(_a _list of local charities _can_ be provided)_
Being a creative thinker and independent sewer
Being environmentally conscious, and enthusiastic about reducing waste
Experience using (or a desire to learn how to use) a sewing machine

Time
commitment

There is no set time commitment, but we would prefer connecting with someone who can spend a consistent amount of time regularly helping us this way.

A reference letter for volunteer work, or a confirmation of volunteer hours (for schooling requirements) can be provided. As this is a Volunteer position, it is unpaid.
