As a Lead Environment Artist you will be working closely with other artists as well as animators, designers, and engineers to make visually striking assets and environments.

You will creatively and technically maintain the quality standard for the project and feel confident to develop your own skills and mentor these of the team around you, whilst having a major role in developing the look of the environments and contributing to the overall game experience.


Requirements:


In this role, you will:


  • Be responsible for creating highquality environment art.
  • Lead the Environment Art team, maintaining quality and development
  • Develop art guides (art documentation, style guides, process documents and feedback loops).
  • Create specification sheets and art briefs, generate estimations for scheduling, monitor quality, review deliverables, providing concise feedback and implementing the final result.
  • Have a keen eye for environmental storytelling and a strong ability to communicate ideas and collaborate with a design team.
  • Have flexibility in terms of creating artwork in differing styles and genre of game.
  • Creatively and technically maintain the quality standard for the project and feel confident to develop your own skills and mentor these of the team around you.
  • Track progress, manage time, and hit deadlines to stay on track with set schedules and tasks.
  • With production, break down tasks and schedule your own work and that of the environment art team.
  • Mentorship give constructive feedback and clear direction
  • Document processes and knowledge share.

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Proven track record in at least 3 shipped titles (preferably AAA).
  • Excellent 3D art skills.
  • Experience mentoring and providing feedback for more Junior Artists.
  • Excellent compositional, worldbuilding skills and allaround artistic expertise and flare.
  • Able to accurately and efficiently perform task breakdowns and production estimates when required.
  • Able to detect potential ways to improve workflows and productivity, as well as help to raise the quality bar if needed.
  • Expertise in 3ds Max or Maya (or both).
  • Knowledge or use of Zbrush.
  • Expertise in Photoshop & other technologies utilised in the production of game art.
  • Expertise or knowledge of implementing artwork into Unreal Engine 4/5 or Unity.
  • Familiarity with developing games in a multiplatform, multiproject environment.
  • The ability and eagerness to learn and adopt new software, tools and technologies.
  • Able to work with a high level of motivation & selfdirection.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to follow process and pipelines, evangelise best practices.
