Systems Support Technician
Purpose of role
Reporting to the Team Leader, Customer Service, Insurance Operations, this position is responsible for filing Annuity tax related information to the CRA or IRS along with reviewing system generated error reports, investigating and resolving errors, ensuring errors are resolved by respective users and supporting our US Annuity team when needed.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer the daily Vantage system runs that affect Annuity products including output runs. Receive, sort and distribute daily reports (VGR55) and investigate error reports through to resolution
- Identify technical issues with Vantage or other systems/functions and open the appropriate Help Desk tickets
- Request and review the following statements monthly for accuracy: Annuity annual statements, quarterly FGF/FGF Plus and FRIF Plus statements, Annual RRSP contribution receipts, Foresters Annuity year end statements and Annual IRA contribution slips
- Works closely with the Tax Analyst within Insurance Operations
- Report/Submitting Canadian contributions to the CRA; report US contributions to the IRS
- Assist with ongoing projects, yearend projects and audit (internal and external) reports
- Responsible for communication and processing regarding Canadian Statutory Holiday Processes
- Updating unit values on TSO, review affected certificates and process corrections
- Working alongside the US Annuity team and providing support on reporting and analytics
- Provide ongoing support related to the Settlement Option database (both US/CAN)
Key Qualifications:
- Postsecondary education in business, communications, marketing or related field.
- Previous experience handling audit queries from tax authorities
- Working knowledge of tax returns in Canada (familiarity with Canadian IFRS) and US for Insurance entities
- Excellent computer skills (Excel, Access, Power Point, MS Word, Visio, EAS, etc.)
- Strong Customer, interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrates ownership and accountability

- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
- Motivated selfstarted
- Able to prioritize and meet deliverables in a fast pace environment
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to convey technical knowledge and information to a nontechnical audience
