Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre serves the community of Central Alberta.

Our Operating Room consists of 9 OR theatres that specialize in General Surgery, Orthopedic - Trauma and Total Joints, Plastics, Gynecology, ENT, and Urology.

Our multidisciplinary team includes Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Perioperative Registered Nurses, ORTs, Respiratory Therapists II, and support staff.

As an OR Technician in the operating room, you will be responsible for providing nursing care in the intraoperative phase.

You will be responsible for both the scrub and circulating role.

Strong communication and collaboration skills are important; problem-solving skills using critical thinking, time management adaptability or imperative; and conflict resolution skills are essential to this role.


Description:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.

You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures.

You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).


Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a perioperative nursing course is required. Equivalent OR experience will be considered. Ability to wear lead apron radiograph protection and any personal protective equipment for an extended period of time. Ability to stand scrubbed for hours to support the surgical team.


Preferred Qualifications:

Previous perioperative nursing experience within the last 5 years. Experience using EPIC.
