    Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto's subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.

    Network Operations is seeking to fill an Operations Controller – Incident Communications position to be responsible for creating, managing, and controlling the daily operational and emergency communications for the GO Transit and UP Express transit network. As part of an integrated team, they will collaborate with multiple business units to compile the operational information to communicate the standard reporting and incident responses.

    What will I be doing?

    • Develop and control the communications of the general service status reports, schedule modifications and overall daily operation of the GO Transit and UP Express service network.
    • Communicate implementation of the incident management processes identified in continuity and emergency responses, and recovery plans to internal stakeholders.
    • Collaborate and facilitate effective communication and information flow with all internal and external customers in conjunction with service recovery, schedule adjustments, and service disruptions.
    • Ensure timely and accurate information dissemination to relevant personnel and stakeholders.
    • Participate on various project teams and committees.

    What skills & qualifications do I need?

    • Completion of a diploma in Business Administration, Transportation, or related field – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
    • Completion of a degree or diploma in Emergency Management/Telecommunications, Business, Supply Chain, and Management would be considered an asset.
    • Experience working in a Control Centre or related experience in transportation with a solid background in the principles, practices, and application of rail and/or bus transit operations is an asset.
    • Environmental, safety, and/or regulatory transportation courses or certifications is an asset.
    • Excellent computer skills with high level knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to quickly become proficient in the use of proprietary software.
    • Ability to quickly assess and act upon situations in a fast-paced environment and to successfully manage under pressure and respond to critical changing priorities.
    • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task.
    • Experience with unionized staff an asset.
    • Must successfully complete environmental, safety, and other training required by corporate policy or regulatory agencies.
