EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY - PARKS
**Parks Labourer I (Seasonal)

2 positions**The Parks Labourer I position is a nontechnical general labour position which performs maintenance and upkeep of all parks and green spaces; including trails, sports fields, playgrounds, and their facilities, as well as the Open
Air Swimming Pool and Brookside Cemetery. This is a seasonal position (April
December, approximately). Seasonal Labourers may be recalled during layoff periods for winter snow clearing work, as required.

Preference will be given to individuals with the following qualifications:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent (preferred);
Postsecondary education in a related field (asset).***
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Nova Scotia Class 5 driver's license (required)
Firstaid (required, but may be supplied by employer)
WHMIS (required, but may be supplied by employer)
Other certifications related to chain saw safety; traffic safety; confined spaces etc. are considered an asset.

Experience:

Previous experience working with sports fields, parks, trails, recreation facilities, landscaping or related work is considered an asset;

Essential Skills:

To communication effectively orally and in writing;
To work cooperatively and effectively as a part of a team;
To record data, complete various forms and maintain accurate records;
To safely operate equipment and tools associated with Parks, Recreation & Facility operation
To effectively maintain equipment and tools associated with Parks, Recreation & Facility operation.

Wages:
$ 19.52/hr

Status:
Unionized (CUPE, Local 1092, Seasonal (April - November, approximate)

Hours of Work:40 hours per week (Monday-Friday, 8:00am

4:30pm). Overtime as required. Seasonal (April December)
