Description
We are looking for a Programmer Analyst to join our team in Fredericton or Woodstock, New Brunswick. Working closely with our business systems analysts, QA and IT Operations teams, the Programmer Analyst role is to define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain software applications/solutions in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications. The Programmer Analyst will also research, design, document, and modify software specifications throughout the production life cycle, focusing on turning complex requirements into easy to use processes via automation.
Key responsibilities include:
• Collaborate with the Development Leads, IT Leads and the Business Systems Analysts to review and provide feedback on solution design & technical specification documents
• Ability to create software solutions using the tools available
• Provide estimates of development effort for projects and tasks
• Provide status updates to the Development Leads and the Business Systems Analysts as required
• Assist Programmer Analysts and external developers to work through their challenges as required
• Support the Business Systems Analysts team through functional and user acceptance testing of projects
• Provide change requests for deployment of database and application updates
• Work with the IT team to solve incidents and provide root cause analysis
• Assist in maintaining Test / QA / Staging environments
• Assist in monitoring applications to verify proper functionality after updates have been deployed
• Create reports to assist the IT team and business units
• Knowledge of telecommunications sector
• Knowledge of client / server applications
• Positive attitude, willingness to apply hands on approach
• Experience working as part of an operational team
The ideal candidate will possess:
• Proven experience in writing applications/scripts/SQL commands against relational databases
• Proven skills in writing and coding in various languages for both web and transactional systems
• Proven database experience in the areas of data structures and modeling
• Proven experience integrating on premise and cloud systems
• 1+ years' experience building and implementing custom solutions on the Salesforce (or similar CRM) platform
• 1+ years' experience building and consuming web services using SOAP or REST
• Experience with Microsoft .NET / C#
• Experience using source control systems such as SVN or GIT
• Experience with responsive design
• Experience with software development collaboration tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, Team Foundation Server, Slack)
• Proven experience developing a full stack solution
• Excellent analytical, mathematical and creative problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to conduct research into infrastructure issues and products as required
• Understanding of software development lifecycle (Planning, Analysis, Design, Implementing, Testing, Maintenance)
• Understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall)
• Understanding of computer programming languages and development environments, database systems, and cloud-based systems
• Understanding of distributed systems and Service Oriented Architecture
• Conscious of security concerns when designing systems
