Description


SCP's Youth Transition Unit's (YTU) mission is to support youth in the mastery of the fundamental skills required for independence.

The YTU Manager is responsible for the YTU contract, budgets, data collection/analysis, and managing the YTU caseworker team.

Working closely with the YTU team and the Director of Program Development, the YTU Manager creates innovative solutions and initiatives for program growth and evolution, expands program resources, and develops community connections.

The YTU Manager provides front line support as needed and is a resource for youth in both 1:1 and group settings.

They are expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP policies and mandated approaches in the completion of their duties as they ensure the YTU program meets/exceeds all funder requirements.


Qualifications (Education and Experience)
-
Post-secondary education - certificate, diploma or degree in human services or related field (equivalencies may be considered)

1+ year youth care, human services, or related field
-
1+ year management, leadership experience

  • Knowledge and Experience in
  • Gap identification & resource allocation
  • Working with Indigenous & vulnerable populations
  • Mental health, substance use, & intergenerational trauma
  • Job coaching, team development, & program coordination
  • Exceptionalities; cognitive impairments, learning challenges (ex. FASD, ADHD)
  • Youth centered philosophy, trauma informed care, & strength based approaches
  • Conflict resolution, mediation, nonviolent communication, & motivational interviewing

Requirements (Skills & Competencies)

Duties & Responsibilities (Outcomes to be monitored quarterly)

  • Adhere to both agency and funder reporting requirements
  • Ensure that contractual obligations are being consistently met or exceeded
  • Ensure that all casemanagement is completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure that recruitment and training of YTU team complies with policy and procedures
  • Manage the youth selection and matching process
  • Conduct & document staff evaluations according to policy
  • Informal checkins
  • Quarterly formal checkins
  • Annual reviews
  • Collaborate with the Director of Program Development to bridge program gaps
  • As required, advocate for youth in the community and provide mediation
  • Develop and provide (1:1 and group) youth services and programming
  • Appointment facilitation
  • Assistance with securing employment/education/housing
  • Providing opportunities for fun in both an individual and group setting
  • Create and implement opportunities for

  • Lead weekly & monthly staff meetings
