Emterra Group is looking to hire a dynamic Plant Manager to provide leadership to operations on the plant.

Some of the meain duties involve ensuring that the processing of recyclable materials is efficient, safe, and produces quality products that meet buyers' needs, with direction from the VP Post Collection.

This includes organizing the plant's resources, such as labour, equipment, processes, recyclable materials and other technology, on a day-to-day basis.


Specific Accountabilities:

1) Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of plant staff, which includes general labour and machine operators

2) Under the direction of the VP Post Collection, ensure that plant production meets productivity goals and financial targets

3) Ensure commodities produced meet the buyers' specifications

4) Coordinate with maintenance team to ensure preventative maintenance is performed on schedule and downtime is minimized

5) Ensure all mobile and processing equipment are maintained and operational

6) Work actively with scale manager/team to coordinate material flowing in and out of the facility

7) Directly supervise the daily floor activities of the shipping and receiving team in coordination with the scale team

8) Ensure detailed coordination and communication with all plant team as well as with all internal and external customers.

9) Approve all plant operation related expenses of the plant

10) Negotiate and arrange labor and parts services from accredited vendors as directed

11) Ensure good housekeeping and a safe, well organized facility

12) Prepare production and other reports as directed

13) Train floor and sorting personnel on floor operations, quality specifications of recycled materials, and safety procedures

14) Provide recommendations to improve production and product quality

15) Perform other duties as assigned.

16) Ability or willingness to be trained in operating and maintaining equipments


Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required to Perform the Job:

  • Ability and willingness to work shift work (day and evening), weekends and holidays.
  • 35 years extensive experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing or processing environment required.
  • Education relative to operations and/or manufacturing
  • Experience in the waste management and recycling industry is strongly preferred.
  • Must be proactive and willing to learn.
  • Mobile equipment operation experience or certification (forklift, loader) an asset
  • Must have good communication skills in English.

Plant environment.
