The Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts) is looking for a Casual Student Services Assistant to support the Director and Student Services team.

This is a casual position commencing as soon as possible until June 30, 2024. Hours of work will be approximately 14-35 hours per week.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director, Student Services and Wellness, this role will provide a wide range of administrative services to support the overall efficiency and operational effectiveness of the Student Services and Wellness portfolio.

In particular, the Assistant will support the Director in assisting students with accessing accommodation and accessibility services and resources, and general office support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative project support on various Student Services initiatives, including the AUArts Early Alert System.
  • Assists with maintaining departmental databases and data tracking, inclusive of student funding and requests for services.
  • Assists with the creation and management of departmental files in accordance with university procedures.
  • Assists students seeking accessibility services by answering general inquiries and providing information.
  • Assists with accommodation requests, such as assisting with schedules and accessible equipment.
  • Assists with the development, generation, and maintenance of documents and reports
  • Updates the Student Services SharePoint site with appropriate events, resources, and news.

Qualifications:

The following qualifications have been determined to promote likelihood of
success in the role. In alignment with the principles of inclusion, individuals with an alternative equivalent qualification may be considered.

  • Minimum Diploma or Certificate in a related discipline, such as office administration
  • Minimum of two (2) years' related experience in an administrative role
  • Advanced skills MS Office Suite (including SharePoint, Teams, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS), e.g. Banner, is an asset
  • Knowledge of Accommodate software is an asset.
  • Knowledge of postsecondary legislation, policies, and procedures

As a member of the AUPE bargaining unit (Local 071/006), this casual position pays an hourly rate of $18.00 and dues will be collected at a rate of 1.25% per pay.

As this position is casual in nature, there will be no guarantee of hours or a regular schedule.
