- Demonstrated knowledge of GIS methods and system operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of ArcGIS, other systems such as FME, MicroStation/AutoCad, SQL, maintenance management systems and spreadsheets
- Strong understanding of databases and inventory data management techniques
- Background in municipal infrastructure asset design, survey, layout, construction, operations and maintenance practices
- Strong understanding of subdivision/site plan agreements, construction drawings, engineering study/reports that are relevant to GIS mapping and inventory data creation

JOB SUMMARY
The Geospatial Analytics, Technology and Solutions unit is responsible for Geographic Information System (GIS) & Data Management programs and services, including Geographic Information System (GIS), Zoning Information System (ZIS) activities, Water and Wastewater Distribution Network, Engineering Information Centre, Central Registry (Composite Utilities) and Data Management, Cartography, Web GIS, Visualization and Analytics services.
You are responsible for compiling, maintaining and updating spatial and attribute information for source system datasets (transportation, water, sewer and buildings/parks assets). You perform quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) on these datasets and produce geographically referenced maps and analytical reports using Departmental GIS and other system tools. You also provide functional supervision and training of junior employees and assigned students.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of 2 year community college program in Geographic Information Systems or Civil Engineering Technician
Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering, mapping, data creation for municipal infrastructure assets (transportation, water, sewer and building/parks assets) using GIS/CAD. Experience must include 2 years of field experience related to municipal infrastructure assets (transportation, water, sewer and building/park assets).
