  • JBH is a Clinical Education site in conjunction with McMaster University, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital. Its expanded campus includes the stateofart Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, featuring a new Emergency Department, 172 acute inpatient beds, 9 new Operating Rooms and postanaesthetic care unit to support expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services. JBH is also a partner member of the Burlington Ontario Health Team.
  • POSITON SUMMARY:
  • RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with the month end processing of data by entering/uploading financial and statistical information into the general ledger, preparing standard and special journal entries, where necessary, for review prior to posting, ensuring compliance with Ontario Healthcare Reporting Standards (OHRS).
  • Assist with the preparation of an internal control framework, coordinate with teams to prepare internal control documents/policies
  • Assist with the coordination and preparation of month end entries related to billings, Accounts Payable, General Accounting, and scheduling meetings.
  • Assist with data entry, ensuring completeness, data integrity and accuracy; analyze and identify trends and interrelationships in data
  • Responsible for various balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Analysis of department financials
  • Assist with generation of financial statements
  • Assist the Department with ad hoc and special projects, which may include investigating financial discrepancies, invoice issues, and reviewing financial information
  • Assist with interim & year end audit preparations.
  • Perform general administrative duties as required to assist the Department
  • Identify process improvements to maximize revenue generating opportunities;
  • Ad hoc assignments as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Enrollment in a Finance, Accounting, or Business, College or University Program
  • A general understanding of accounting and financial principles
  • High attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrates initiative, problemsolving, and efficient use of resources
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize to ensure deliverables and deadlines are met or exceeded
  • Ability to function effectively both individually and as part of a team
  • Strong and proficient computer skills (i.e. MS Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to pick up and learn new computer software/programs related to AP, General Ledger, etc.
  • Professional demeanor including strong sense of personal integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required
