Your Opportunity:


Your Key Accountabilities:


  • Promotes an equitable, diverse, and inclusive work environment, and contributes to Edmonton Unlimited's ongoing pursuit of Reconciliation.
  • Networks proactively with key influencers and stakeholders to build authentic, constructive, and trusting relationships that support the growth of innovationfocused companies.
  • Leverages existing and new networks to support the growth of all Edmonton Unlimited divisions.
  • Works with clients, internal teams, and the community (e.g. Edmonton Regional Innovation Network and Post Secondaries) in the development of clientspecific solutions and proposals.
  • Presents program and related business cases to the senior leadership team.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the overall programs team with a continuous improvement focus, in line with business and strategic goals, while delivering programs that serve innovative entrepreneurs as suppliers and local established entities as buyers.
  • Advances our goal to position Edmonton as an inclusive global innovation capital, with solutions to global challenges, building trade channels and opening international pathways for "innovation from here for the world".
  • Adept at creating compelling value propositions for startups, scaleups and multinationals to engage with our organization.
  • Establishes new contacts and generates new business opportunities through networking, attending industry events, investigating leads, and prospecting to support innovative entrepreneurs and innovation community stakeholders.
  • Understands the marketplace and competitive drivers within target innovation sectors, including tech, social, cultural, sustainable, and economic innovation.
  • Identifies, reviews, and analyzes valuable trends and achievements within Edmonton's innovation ecosystem.
  • Identifies key clients and works with the Edmonton Unlimited team to cultivate meaningful and enduring relationships in support of entrepreneurs.
  • Performs strategic reviews of available opportunities, conducts assessments to determine alignment with corporate strategy, and provides recommendations to colleagues and the CEO.
  • Ability to think strategically and globally considering industry, market, customer, and other external business forces.
  • Presents in an engaging and credible manner to audiences and interacts with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Initiates strategic activities for ecosystem development and business development.
  • Monitors international competitive intelligence on entrepreneur support and business development organizations with an innovation focus.
  • Maintains expertise in creating, running, or growing innovative businesses through firsthand experience and/or applicable training to maintain credibility with clients and stakeholders, while managing conflictsofinterest as they arise.

Your Credentials:


  • Missiondriven and impactfocused.
  • Degree in business or related field (equivalent onthejob experience will be considered).
  • 10+ years of business development and executing business strategy.
  • Documented ability to effortlessly jump back and forth between the creative and analytical sides of business and program development.
  • Excels in a startup environment with flat organizational structure and strong interdepartmental collaboration.
