The Community Engagement Branch supports the broad nonprofit/voluntary sector to build and strengthen its human and financial capacity by:

  • Providing financial assistance;
  • Building the adaptive, leadership, management, and technical capacity of organizations through facilitation and training on governance, leadership, strategic planning, fund development, collaborations, and more.
  • Identifying and addressing broader nonprofit sector issues and initiatives through gathering and analyzing meaningful data on the sector, and undertaking research on key sector trends to inform and set policy direction;
  • Building crosssector partnerships and collaborations to achieve shared goals; and
  • Building awareness of the critical role of the nonprofit sector in fostering a strong Alberta economy, and healthy and vibrant communities.


The Community Grants Unit is looking for one (1) permanent Community Grants Advisor, at the Program Services 4 classification, located in Edmonton.

$2,757.39 to $3,604.17 bi-weekly ($71,967 - $94,068/year)


Role Responsibilities:


The Community Grants Advisor supports the efficient delivery and management of the Community Facilities Enhancement Program (CFEP), the Community Initiatives Program (CIP) and the Cultural Heritage Initiatives Program (CHIP) plus other grant programs as needed.

These programs have a combined budget of approximately $60 million annually.

Reporting to the Program Manager Community Grants, the Community Grants Advisor is responsible for:

  • Enhancing and improving grant program delivery using expert knowledge of systems thinking, research and analysis, project management, program delivery, policy development, evaluation and capacity building.
  • Mentoring and collaborating with team members to support the grant cycle.
  • Providing specialized and expert advice to inform executive leadership decision making on key program deliverables, including funding allocations, continuous improvements, and policy and program development.
  • Leading and managing a full project lifecycle from issue identification, solution design, implementation, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Analyzing the current environment and using strategic thinking to make improvements to internal processes and current grant programs and ensuring comprehensive input for outcome based program evaluation.
  • Facilitation of information sessions to stakeholders, and presentations to senior management and ministry colleagues.
  • Understanding the various legislation, policies and Acts that governs the work of the Unit.

Minimum Recruitment Standards:

University graduation in a related field (i.e. social sciences, humanities, business) and four years of related experience is required


Qualifications:


  • Experience in supporting the nonprofit voluntary sector.
  • Experience in the delivery of a grant program for both capital and operating funding.
  • Experience working in a political sensitive position with sound judgment.
  • Experience in program and/or policy development.
Equivalencies may be considered.

This is a permanent opportunity located out of the Cardinal Building, A Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta.

Hours of work: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
