Job Description:


As a leader in the metals recycling industry, American Iron and Metals (AIM) is your environmentally friendly partner for efficient recycling of your metals, end-of-life vehicles and construction scrap, as well as managing your most complex demolition and decommissioning projects.

AIM Recycling is one of the most technologically advanced metal recyclers in North America. Its equipment and processes propel AIM Recycling on the international scene.


This role will assist with developing and controling procurement in Hydrocarbons and raw materials operation procurement, used in the various AIM operations.

In addition to a solid technical ability, the role will require an innovative approach and ability to take on responsibility, communicate clearly and effectively, be organized and work collaboratively with other members.

This position is ideal for an individual with an appropriate balance of technical ability and procurement people skills.

Support the development and implementation of short/medium term strategies for the Hydrocarbons and raw materials procurement category. Support operations by providing business solutions for on-site requirements with consideration of overall supply chain strategy and utilizing basic total cost of ownership principles


Maintenance Strategy Development:


  • Ensure all direct team employees and contractors are compliant with systems and procedures to deliver a zero harm outcome.
  • Determine, and ensure requirement within contracts, any Health, Safety, Environment and Heritage initiatives appropriate for implementation into Customer internal works.
  • Provide visible safety leadership by modelling positive safety behaviours to all staff and contractors.
  • Responsible for appropriate team and personal awareness and compliance to cultural norms, business trade practices.
  • Responsible for the development, communication and contribution to Procurement Group initiatives with the Customer internal, by achieving or exceeding targets which directly correlate to profit enhancing outcomes.
  • Develop, contribute and implement short/medium term plans and targets in conjunction with those of the Procurement Group and the Customer internal.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Customer internal needs are consistently met or exceeded in regards to the provision of contracting, procurement services, with strong emphasis on forward planning as required. Proactively build constructive, respectful and positive relationships with the Customer Groups.
  • Ability to build wide rapport with internal and external stakeholders and to influence buyin.
  • Propose and justify commercial benefit initiatives in new capital, sustaining capital, maintenance programs, and operational spend, by providing detailed and compelling business cases and assisting the Customer Group to compile and execute these business cases
  • Deliver benefits by leveraging Contract opportunities and supplier capabilities
  • Proactively implement strategic initiatives to better service the Customer Groups, to enhance profitability, reliability and their customer service

Performance Measurement:


  • Provision of a 135 year strategy document covering the various factors that can impact procurement, supply base cost models, TCO models that extend beyond supply (material holding costs, logistics, etc.)
  • Implement an endtoend supply chain mapping process to assess supply risk, cost drivers, negotiation levers
  • Analysis and review of the existing supply agreement as well as gap analysis against an ideal model based on market knowledge regarding alternative
