The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research intensive, distributed learning environment where tomorrow's physicians, dentists, health researchers and scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health.

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on the Western University campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,500 staff.


Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME) is one of nine programs within the Education Portfolio in the Dean's Office at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (Schulich).

Within a distributed medical education environment, the Postgraduate Medical Education Program is responsible for supporting 59 specialty and sub-specialty programs within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

These programs run from 2-7 years leading to full certification from either the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).


Responsibilities:


The Program Evaluation and Project Specialist (CQI and Accreditation) facilitates continuous quality improvement within residency training programs within the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The role takes a leadership role in program accreditation and continuous quality improvement projects, the evaluation of the program's curriculum, assessing the implementation and outcomes of programs, developing and managing processes for best utilizing data and core metrics to inform evidence-based decision-making, and identifying new and potential evaluation projects through the implementation of formal and informal needs assessments.

The Specialist is also accountable for the planning, initiation, execution, research design methods, and deliverables of core and special projects that are closely aligned with the strategic mission and goals of the department and the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry to meet the ongoing needs and requirements of programs.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • Master's degree in Education, Social or Health Sciences or related field
  • Experience:
  • 5 years' experience with program evaluation, continuous quality improvement processes, data management and analytics
  • Experience with project and data management, program evaluation methodologies, and research design in the health and education sectors is preferred
  • Experience designing and implementing data analytics strategies is preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of curriculum design, planning and implementation and of delivery of curriculum within a distributed medical education model
  • Proven ability to build relationships with executive stakeholders, operate, collaborate, and influence at all levels
  • Indepth knowledge of program evaluation best practices and methodologies and of consolidation, synthesizing, and integrating data sets
  • Indepth knowledge of quality management processes, including Accreditation standards and processes
  • Knowledge of techniques for planning, managing and coordinating projects, with competing priorities that involve a variety of stakeholders
  • Proven ability in translating business needs to functional requirements
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and with learning management systems
  • Ability to generate and implement ideas that are focused on improving program quality
  • Well defined sense of diplomacy, including proven ability to skilfully facilitate meetings and work projects, problem solve, negotiate, and resolve conflict
  • Strong business acumen with an ability to influence, motivate and inspire with or without formal authority
  • Critical thinking and discernment to assess and scope areas for improvement and an ability to offer creative solutions
  • Professional quality written and verbal communication skills with a high level of detail
  • Commitment to professional development and continual improvement of skills
  • Professional manner, tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with various stakeholders and colleagues, including senior management
  • Respect for diversity of opinion, honesty, integrity, and dedication
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular business hours and travel on occasion
