FWD is a small local general contractor based out of Calgary. We provide construction strategies and solutions for a variety of commercial disciplines including Retail, Industrial, Office and Recreational.

• Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Determine the project scope of work
• Source and conduct a detailed analysis of subtrade quotes to ensure competitive pricing
• Analyze contract documents and specifications to determine project requirements and identify risk
• Complete full quantity takeoff of labour, equipment, and materials to complete the project per contract specifications
• Setup and complete estimate following Company estimating procedures
• Prepare preliminary construction schedules
• Identify and develop constructability requirements for project construction
• Assist in recommending best options based on cost, engineering quality and availability of materials
• Identify and propose project risk and cost mitigation
• Analyze subcontractor bids to ensure the full scope of the work is included
• Develop scopes of work for subcontractors to provide budgeting assistance to project teams
• Prepare a schedule of activities required to complete a cost estimate
• Support operational staff, assisting with the planning of their time and overseeing delegation and quality of work
• Provide accurate assessments of risk and scope for completed estimates
• Generate and assess risk mitigation plans including proper bonding and insurance
• Other duties as assigned
• Preparing company general conditions for projects to determine costs
• Read drawings and specifications
• Preliminary discussions with consultants and ownership
• Ongoing project financial management
• Create and submit change orders to clients and consultants

About You

• Postsecondary education, preferably in business or engineering, or equivalent combination of technical training plus experience
• 35 years of prior estimating experience on commercial projects is required/asset
• Proven ability to read and interpret construction documents and drawings
• Proficiency in the use of MS Office, scheduling software (ie.

Procore)

• Knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take off procedures, subtrade procurement, pricing and bidclosing procedures
• Strong comprehension of tender documents, specifications and drawings
• Clear and professional written communication
• Strong ability to organize and prioritize
• Personal vehicle and class 5 licence to drive to site walkthroughs.
