    THE ROLE

    The Recreational Facilities Superintendent plans, coordinates, manages, controls and
    evaluates the operations of the arena as well as outdoor facilities such as playground, dog park, RV Park, sports fields, outdoor courts, and Skate Park as required. You plan and manage the operating budget and administer contracts for the prevision of supplies and services. You plan, coordinate and manage administrative services such as cleaning, maintenance, and safety and security inspections. You prepare or oversee the preparation of reports such as facility schedules, maintenance schedules, equipment logs, machinery and mechanical maintenance logs, staff and operations as required.

    QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

    Education, Certifications and Licenses
    College diploma or certificate in Facility management, Resource management or
    related field AND some years of experience in a related field
    OR
    High School diploma with a Certificate in Facility Management, Resource Management
    or related field AND several years of experience in a related field
    OR
    An equivalent combination of technical training and supervisory experience in facility
    operations
    AND
    Ice Maintenance & Equipment Operator Certificate (Provincial Designation or
    Equivalent), an asset
    Ice Making Technology Certificate (Provincial Designation or Equivalent), an asset
    Current CPR and basic First Aid qualifications
    A valid driver's license (Nova Scotia)

    Experience

    In resource administration

    In operating an arena or similar facility

    In ice maintenance requirements

    In personnel administration

    In budget administration

    In the preparation, maintenance and operation of outdoor sports fields

    Competencies, Skills and Abilities

    leadership.
