***The Beauty Salon Attendant reports to the Beauty Salon Supervisor, and is accountable for providing beauty and barbering services to residents. The position involves a high level of interaction with seniors, requiring the physical capacity to assist with a resident's mobility and transfers, as well to stand for long periods and to stoop, reach, lift and carry as required through the daily shift. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills are important attributes for this position.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meeting and greeting customers in a pleasant manner
  • Competent provision of salon/beautician and barbering services to residents and meeting the expectations of residents in providing those services
  • Maintaining the resident appointment book
  • Handling and documenting monetary transactions in the provision of services
  • Taking care of laundry, sweeping and tidying of salon
  • Ensuring residents are satisfied with the quality of service provided by the attendant
  • Observes and reports pertinent conditions, behaviours and activities of residents to a Supervisor/Manager or Registered Nurse
  • Ensures resident concerns are addressed and refers to any unresolved concerns to the Beauty Salon Supervisor
  • Maintains the confidentiality of residents and Canterbury Foundation affairs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be a graduate of a recognized hairstylist program
  • Be licensed as a Journeyperson as defined under the Alberta Apprenticeship Program Regulation (OR equivalent documentation certifying competence)
  • Experience in working with seniors and persons with cognitive impairment in an asset
  • Acceptable Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sectors Search, completed within 3 months of the date of hire. Proof must be provided prior to the first day of employment.

  • Follow all Infection Prevention and Control measures including proper hand hygiene.
  • 2 doses of COVID vaccination

Job Types:
Part-time, Temporary

Contract length: 9 weeks

Expected hours: 23.25 per week
