    About Us:

    DASCH is a non-profit organization established in 1974 dedicated to exploring and meeting the residential, day program, respite and foster care needs of youth and adults.

    All our programs are based in Winnipeg.

    Our residential program consists of over 50 homes, our day services program consists of two day programs and our educational program called DASCHWorks supports people in finding and maintaining meaningful employment.

    People can participate in personalized social, educational, vocational and recreational services that provide learning opportunities and greater independence.

    Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Assistant is responsible for the maintenance of DASCH residences and commercial spaces throughout Winnipeg.

    As a Facilities Assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining the utmost standards of functionality across our facilities with your expertise, precision and prioritization skills.

    Additional Benefits:3 weeks' vacation after first year of service, available to use as accruedPersonal daysDisability coverageRegistered Pension Plan with 5% employer-matched contributionsOptional RRSP and TFSA plansPaid mileageExtensive employer-paid trainingRole & Responsibilities:Completing tasks outlined by the Facilities ManagerBasic drywall touch-ups, replacement, taping, sandingPreparation, priming and painting of new and repaired drywall, wood and steel surfaceBasic finish carpentry (door and window casings, baseboards, handrails)

    Building projects such as door and window replacement, lock installation, fence construction and drop ceiling repair and installationMinor electrical (replace light fixtures & cover hardware)Minor plumbing (replace faucets, cartridges, toilets, sinks, plastic drain parts)Troubleshooting of basic carpentry, electrical plumbing and HVAC issuesSmall tree pruning and cuttingSkills & Qualifications:
    A complete set of personal protective equipmentGrade 12 or equivalent and 3 to 5 years of experience in a handy person/construction roleSolid knowledge of plumbing, electrical and HVAC systemsSolid carpentry knowledge and a proficiency in completing those construction tasksAbility to accurately and safely operate portable and stationary power toolsAbility to read manufacturers instruction manuals and measured drawingsComplete tasks with precision and thoroughnessExtremely task-oriented with high standards of quality and accuracyStrong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments following established policies and proceduresCandidates must be physically fit and able to lift a minimum of 40 poundsWillingness to take the initiativeStrong organization skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficientlyFull Manitoba Driver's License and a satisfactory driver's abstract

    Work Hours:
