Warehouse team
on-site in our Calgary head office as a
Warehouse Team Lead.


THE ROLE


Under the direction of the VP, Operations (on an interim basis), the
Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for ensuring all aspects of warehouse operations are completed per AVL SOP's.

The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for assigning the day-to-day tasks of all Warehouse Associates and working alongside all team members.

This position requires an incumbent with demonstrated problem-solving, collaborative leadership and excellent communication skills.

You must be keen to learn AVL processes and procedures, and enthusiastically engage in leading a dedicated and hard-working team.

An understanding of working in a GMP facility would be an asset.


DAY-TO-DAY

  • Oversees and coordinate warehouse operations
  • Maintains cGMP standards and implements/enforces work instructions and SOP set out by the company
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are followed for warehouse facilities and equipment used in operations
  • Arranging repair and service of warehouse equipment using approved providers
  • Ensure materials are properly received
  • Responsible for having orders prepared according to internal timelines
  • Arrange for pick up, and ship orders
  • Receive incoming shipments
  • Manage and restock warehouse related supplies
  • Manage pallet inventory
  • Ensures that materials required by production department are designated, counted and or weighed, prior to being staged for manufacturing
  • Manage disposal/pickup of empty drums and totes
  • Work with operations to maintain and update any Work instructions, SOP's, and documents used by warehouse staff
  • Ensures electronic records, scheduling tools, and communications are maintained and kept up to date
  • Participates in hiring for Warehouse Associates
  • Responsible for the training and onboarding of new warehouse positions, and for maintaining existing staff's level of training
  • Responsible for arranging emergency repair of warehouse equipment
  • Manages the development of the department resources through training, informal feedback, and participating in individual performance appraisals
  • Responsible for ensuring warehouse areas kept clean and organized
  • Keeping a safe environment and ensuring operations are conducted in a safe manner
  • Ensures that logbooks are maintained, and that documents (paper/electronic) are completed in a timely manner
  • Approving time sheets, and reviewing sick, personal, and vacation time off requests
  • Willingly perform other duties as required

IDEAL FIT
Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in warehouse operations
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class 5 Drivers' License with good driving record
  • Counterbalance and Reach forklift operation training and certificates, along with other equipment such as a scissor lift, wrapper and pallet jacks
  • Comfortable completing warehouse activities such as receiving on a computer and open to learning new software programs
Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator and collaborator with strong time management skills
  • Works effectively to plan, schedule, and prioritize all facets of daily activities to effectively manage tight timelines and meet deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of warehouse operations
  • Successful working in a team environment with mínimal oversight or as an integral part of the broader team demonstrating initiative and willingness to go above and beyond
  • Comfortable with multitasking and adaptable to changing priorities within a teamoriented entrepreneurial environment
  • Able to remain calm under pressure and make informed decisions quickly and collaboratively
  • Both provides and follows directions while working safely and efficiently
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kgs)
  • This is a safety sensitive position due to the operation of machinery in the warehouse"
