- Minimum 2 years experience in machine guarding design & implementation
- Expertise in functional safety controls integration (e.g., CSA Z434/432, CSA Z1002, ISO13849, ANSI B11)
- Prior manufacturing experience
- Proficiency in CAD Design tools like AutoCAD, SolidWorks
- High School education minimum
- Mechanical Design Technology Training preferred
- Trade experience considered an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Effective project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Process Safety Technologist (PST) will standardize, maintain, and enhance best practices related to machine guarding and functional safety of machinery and equipment lines at the A&I Rexdale/Vaughan facilities.
In addition to ensuring compliance with workplace safety standards, this role focuses on creating a safe and healthy work environment for employees, supporting the introduction of new processes, achieving operational cost savings, and enhancing capacity.
The PST plays a key role in overseeing safety improvement programs, ensuring PSHSR compliance during facility transitions and equipment line integrations.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Independently managing projects while communicating with stakeholders under budgetary and time constraints
- Coordinating outside vendor projects for safety initiatives
- Establishing and nurturing vendor relationships for seamless integration
- Collaborating with engineering, operations, and HSE teams for practical safety solutions
- Conducting risk assessments and utilizing tools for continuous improvement
- Applying safety standards like CSA Z1002, Z432, Z434, ANSI B11, ISO13849 to enhance safety measures
- Providing operational safety training and feedback to production teams
- Developing work instructions, procedures, and lessons learned
- Implementing strategic problem-solving for complex issues
- Utilizing CAD for drawings and managing fabrication vendors for safety projects
- Sharing process safety knowledge within the team
