This position reports to the Director, People Services and is a key contributor to the human resources leadership team and Niagara Health team.

With a commitment to strategy, modernization, and customer service, the Manager, Compensation and Benefits supports and enables results within the compensation, benefits, and HRIS team to deliver a total rewards strategy for Niagara Health.

As an impactful organizational leader, you guide our commitment to recruit and retain top talent through providing compensation and benefits guidance and recommendations to leaders and employees that foster transparency, equity, and accountability.

This position is based in Welland and involves travel between the sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Builds a dynamic compensation and benefits team and fosters strong internal and external partnerships through enabling a culture of respect, collaboration, and cooperation.
  • Elevates our ability to deliver an exceptional employee experience, with a specific emphasis on compensation and benefits.
  • Provides strategic vision and leadership for the planning and implementation of total rewards, and partners with organizational leaders to foster employee engagement and accountability.
  • Enables innovation and modernization, with a lens on customer service, around compensation systems, processes, and practices.
  • Manages complex enterprisewide compensation and benefits projects, including pay equity.
  • Ensures market competitiveness, and our ability to attract and retain top talent, through market benchmarking and participation in key annual salary surveys and industry leading compensation and benefits best practices.
  • Engages and liaises with internal partners and vendors supporting total rewards.
  • Advises leaders on the implications of short and longterm decisions, strategies, and change efforts on compensation and benefits matters through providing evidencebased guidance.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • University degree related to Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or equivalent area of study.
  • CHRL designation preferred.
  • Health care experience an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 to 8 years of compensation and benefits related experience (full cycle).
  • Knowledge of total rewards best practices and a strong understanding of public sector compensation frameworks, including legislative requirements and pay equity.
  • Experience with benefit plan management to ensure efficiency and sound stewardship of hospital and plan resources.
  • Exceptional quantitative and qualitative analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of best practices with respect to pay for performance, automation of HR reporting, and the enhancement of performance improvements related to human resource investments.
  • Exceptional project management, negotiation, quality, analytical, and change management skills.
  • Research skills and the ability to integrate new knowledge and current practice.
  • Highly developed leadership skills, including team building, coaching, and employee engagement.
  • Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, leadership, judgment, critical thinking and decisionmaking skills.
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
