Mission


The Estimator/ Cost Controller is responsible for the preparation of accurate monthly cost control reports, revised budgets as required, earned value, comparison with budget.

The role will take responsibility for the assigned scope and work with internal stakeholders to ensure the project stays on budget, and that all discrepancies are identified in a timely manner and steps are taken to resolve and correct issues before they arise or become problematic.

Main Responsibilities

Interface with assigned Segment/ Project Manager in construction to deliver all required Project Control support and seasonal estimating and re-estimating duties as required

  • Work with Project Controls Manager and Segment/ Project Managers to provide accurate CTC/ EAC and Key Quantity updates to ensure accurate status of schedule
  • Preparation of the detailed Target budget and any revised budget (at 20%, 50% and 80% progress) for the assigned scope of work.
  • Work closely with contract management team to ensure all impacts of changes are identified and considered
  • Assess the charge impacts to project schedules and budgets
  • Develop baselines for budgets and schedules and forecast resource requirements
  • Lead and take accountability for cost control, performance measurement, and change management processes
  • Investigate variables and be able to confidently explain these to management
  • Implement and ensure accurate performance measurements and prepare project reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis
  • Analyse and submit reports in a timely manner to ensure deliverables are met
  • Business controls documentation, coordination and support activities used to manage daytoday business and audits
  • Frequent progress reports and presence to ensure that reports as presented to the client and internal management are accruate
  • Participate in development activities for continual improvement in the project control system & services
  • Ensure compliance with industry best practices and all reporting requirements, internal and external
  • Complete change management assessments
  • Calculates complete takeoff of scopes of work, including material quantity requirements from engineering drawings based on first principles estimating
  • Assists in review of final estimate to ensure alignment with project schedule and cost goals.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders to be the GoTo person for questions within your assigned area or scope of work
Main Responsibilities

Identify and coordinate follow up activities of changes

  • Effective communication to all stakeholders of all the required activities and followup as a result of the scope changes
  • Work together with project management staff to ensure accurate and effective management of project budget and project deliverables
  • Proactively communicate concerns, investigate discrepancies, and provide effective solutions in a timely manner and before they become problematic
  • Support organizational design and definition of roles and responsibilities
  • Track and record all changes and followup to ensure all field activities are completed as per the change management plan
  • Provide input into cost overruns, areas for potential savings, and insight into upcoming challenges during periodic review and forecasting exercises
  • Frequently check costs against the estimated budget and forecast
  • Review the budget with budget owners within your assigned scope on a regular basis and assist where necessary in sticking to budgeted and scheduled plans
  • Provide accurate information to internal stakeholders in a timely manner for the completion of monthend reports and other planned fiscal reporting requirements
  • Support of Commercial / Claims team to provide actual and forecasted costs.
  • Schedule updates on Primavera P
  • Lead by example by demonstrating the importance of fostering a safety culture
  • Other tasks as required to assist the team in delivering project goals.
Profile

Minimum 8-10 years related industry experience in project controls, forecasting and other project control reports

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Construction Management or related field OR equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience
  • Previous experience on heavy infrastructure or largescale megaprojects
  • Proven progressive experience in project controls and construction scheduling
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and schedule reports
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Previous experience using Primavera P6 scheduling software and 3D modelling
  • JDE, BluBeam and PowerBi experience a strong asset
  • Proven accuracy and ability to balance competing tasks and priorities with poise
