As part of our talented Product and Marketing team, this role leads the product development, design and evaluation process for existing offerings and new ideas and concepts into market ready opportunities in support of the United Way of the Alberta Capital Region's (UWACR) strategic plan and driving revenue and volunteer engagement.

The incumbent collaborates with cross functional teams to lead the product development and lifecycle to meet the expectations of market segments identified by colleagues or supported by market analytics and research.

The Portfolio Manager, Products leads organizational learning and knowledge of UWACR's Product Framework and acts as an ambassador for the importance of products with stakeholders and within the organizational value chain and strives for integrative organizational product implementation.

The incumbent devises, develops, and improves development, measurement, and evaluation models, processes, and resources needed to support the successful implementation of product best practices for UWACR stakeholders.

This position reports to the Director, Product and Marketing.


About the Role

  • Manages full product lifecycle from initial conception to ideation and prototyping to ongoing evaluation, evolution, retirement, and reporting as identified in the product framework.
  • Develops product design proposals for review and approval by the Executive Leadership Team as identified in the Product Framework process.
  • Facilitates sessions with colleagues and external stakeholders to cultivate ideas and/or concepts that will solve business needs or opportunities for the organization.
  • Collaborates with crossfunctional teams through the full product lifecycle to ensure success.
  • Develops product prototypes/models for review, adjustment, testing prior to full launch.
  • Develops and improve the systems, processes, practices, and resources needed to implement the UWACR Product Framework.
  • Works with the marketing and communications team to support the launch of the products into the market, including contributing to the development of collateral and training material.
  • Develop organizational learning and process knowledge to guide UWACR Product Framework and future UW product development and marketing initiatives.
  • Conducts market research to identify trends and best practices in product opportunities to incorporate and advance UWACR initiatives and product viability in the market.
  • Initiates, conducts, and collects, information/data from research, UWACR analytics, market trends, and insights gained through Customer Care and Community Investments and proposes concepts to develop into products.
  • Establishes the metrics to gauge success of the products in market and impact in community.
  • Evaluate and report on product success in the market and impact in community and make recommendations on product revisions to optimize alignment with stakeholder requirements and to achieve UWACR's strategy.

You love operating in a digital environment and are proficient with MS Office (we use Office 36- MS Teams, SharePoint) and productivity tools like Asana and Mural.


You have a degree in Marketing, Product Development or in a related field plus seven to eight years of relevant experience.

A combination of lived experience will be considered. Experience in fundraising, non-profit, creative fields, and event planning, are all considered an asset.

A valid driver's license and vehicle are required as travel may be involved within Edmonton and surrounding area.
