Right now we're looking for a

Health Information Management Analystto work in our

Health Information Services department.

The

Health Information Management Analyst, Health Information Services is responsible for timely and efficient submission of data to CIHI to meet reporting requirements. Provides data quality expertise to Coding and HIS staff, thereby enhancing facility funding and performance.

Position Responsibilities:

Data Submission & Reporting

  • Coordinates and processes monthend procedures and submissions to CIHI for all MOHLTC reporting institutions at HRH to ensure all submission deadlines are met
  • Initiates action and conducts followup with IS, CIHI and software vendors in issues that arise with reporting, the implementation of software updates, edits and conversions
  • Assists with month end balancing processes to ensure all reporting requirements are met
  • Develops and maintains quality control and improvement tools to ensure coding consistency, accuracy and completeness
  • Reviews CIHI & MOHLTC reports to ensure all outstanding errors and warnings are corrected and resubmitted as required
  • Liaises with Mental Health and Rehabilitation Programs re: reporting of OMHRS & NRS assessments and code assignment
  • Oversees ERNI Level 1 ER reporting to meet deadlines and improve P4R funding
Data Quality

  • Conducts regular audits to ensure CIHI coding standards and guidelines are being applied by coding staff
  • Generates system reports to identify coding quality issues and opportunities for increasing case weights
  • Utilizes other data quality tools and initiatives to enhance performance and funding (eg. 3Terra DQA, CIHI EMT, etc)
  • Provides support to coding staff re: coding & abstracting related questions/concerns
  • Provides support to other HIS & facility staff re: data quality related issues surrounding registration & documentation
  • Maintains CIHI Provider information in Meditech to assist other areas within the facility
  • Merging of chart documentation when duplicates are found; ensures CIHI database integrity is maintained
Other Responsibilities

  • Assists with training & orientation, and staff education
  • Acts as a resource to Decision Support Service in all technical issues surrounding classifications systems used by the Clinical Data Collection area.
  • In collaboration with Decision Support Service, provides education on documentation
  • Supply ordering

Qualifications:


  • Graduate from approved Health Information Management Program
  • Member of the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM formally known as CCHRA) and active membership maintained with CHIMA.
  • 5 years of Coding/abstracting Inpatient (DAD) and Ambulatory (NACRS) records required
  • Knowledge and experience using Med2020 Winrecs abstract, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Meditech 6.0 or 6.1, preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capability of interacting comfortably with a variety of disciplines at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment, including working under pressure, adapting and responding to changing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated superior organizational, time management, listening and recording skills.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
