- Engagement and deployment of legal resources

- Contractual review, interpretation and negotiation
- Review and interpretation of legislation
Responsibilities:
You will contribute to our team by:
- participating in the selection, monitoring, performance evaluation and relationship development with external counsel in Canada, the United States and Australia;
- assisting and/or leading in the review, negotiation and drafting of contracts across the spectrum of solar project construction activities in Canada, the United States and Australia;
- participating in the development of standard form contracts, subcontracts, and purchase agreements;
- managing litigation by developing and implementing strategies and solutions to mitigate the risks of liability and the cost of legal proceedings; and
- working with internal stakeholders, internal and external counsel, and other service providers to deliver desired outcomes on legal matters.
Qualifications:
- A law degree and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- 37 years of construction law experience gained from a leading law firm or related inhouse role
- Strong academic credentials
- Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities, be selfmotivated, and problem solve effectively and diplomatically
- Solid understanding of construction legislation (liens and prompt payment), dispute resolution processes and construction contracts (including prime construction contracts, and subcontracts for equipment procurement and construction services) required
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fastpaced environment with multiple other team members
- Experience in the renewable energy construction industry is a definite asset
- Exposure to or experience in connection with construction projects in the United States and/or Australia is also an asset
