Tax Manager

Compensation:
$110,000 - $135,000


Skills - Must Haves:


  • Owner or Manager experience.
  • To have prepared Notice to Reader or Compilation Engagements, including the corporate tax returns.
  • To have experience in different Canadian tax industries.
  • To have Canadian personal tax experience.
  • To have at least 5 years' experience in Canadian tax.
  • To have the CPA Canada indepth tax course finished or in the 3rd year.
  • Being in Ottawa would be an asset
  • Remote in Ontario works
  • To have done tax planning: both Canadian corporate and personal.
  • To be willing to put in overtime when required.
  • Experience with CaseWare, Excel and Tax prep software.
  • To be familiar with some different types of domestic restructuring.

Responsibilities:


As an accomplished CPA you will manage, direct, and monitor multiple accounting, bookkeeping and tax projects and client engagements simultaneously.

This includes directing the overall progress of fieldwork by planning, organizing, delegating, and coordinating work to ensure timely completion of assignments.


Qualifications:


  • 510 years of progressive Canadian public accounting experience with Canadian corporate tax experience and interest in the areas of Canadian tax accounting and tax provisions.
  • Full knowledge and ability to perform an analytical review of tax returns and management letters, as well as present the results of that review in a clear and insightful manner.
  • Acquisition of the CPA designation.
  • Currently enrolled in 3rd year or completed CICA/CICPA indepth tax course.
  • A comprehensive understanding of Canadian accounting, and tax rules and regulations.
  • Aptitude to cultivate positive and professional relationships with clients and understand business and industry sufficiently to dispense general business advice.
  • A commitment to identifying, developing, and sharing best practices for the firm to work more efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience in managing, leading and motivating junior and intermediate staff, including participation in performance reviews, and providing career path input.
  • Essential personal and leadership characteristics for continuing growth and development of responsible, trained staff by supervising and providing guidance and direction to less experienced staff.
  • A business owner mindset to actively monitor performance goals, business development and profitability/innovation by identifying and implementing ideas for new business, service offerings and marketing strategies and initiatives while actively networking and marketing the various services of the firm.
