Essential Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation of a systematic project plan that outlines the design execution strategy
Define component design parameters using design inputs (engineering instructions, design standards, automation, reference designs etc.)
Layout and modeling of components and assemblies
Prepare packages for external design providers including drawing markups, instructions, reference drawings, and models for the creation of customer drawing deliverables and manufacturing drawings and bill of materials
Manage the creation and approval of drawings and bill of materials through the design cycle
Provide technical support to external design providers, vendors, and manufacturer until the shipment of the motor and components.
Actively participate in continuous improvement projects to reduce rework and improve cycle time and design hours

Qualifications

Required

Technologist Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical technology
5 years or more related experience in design, modeling, creating drawings and bills of materials

Preferred

Expertise in 3D and 2D design software, with Creo and AutoCAD preferred
Expertise in bills of material, with PLM Teamcenter experience an asset
Detailed component design knowledge of large synchronous and induction machines
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and documentation
Demonstrated ability in developing technical instructions
Knowledge of common manufacturing processes, shop tolerances and industry standards
