Brief job description:
The Picketts lab studies neurodevelopmental disorders caused by mutations in genes encoding chromatin remodeling proteins.
Utilizing mouse models of these intellectual disability syndromes we aim to unravel the underlying molecular pathology and pathways involved so we can develop future therapeutics.
We are recruiting a Research Technician to support laboratory activities including, but not limited to, the management of mouse colonies, collection, and sectioning of brain tissue, experimental analysis of brain tissues (eg. Western blot, RT-qPCR, and IF techniques), general lab duties and placing orders.Previous experience working with mice is considered a strong asset.
Basic Requirements:
- A threeyear college diploma or a BSc degree with less than 5 years of experience working in a research laboratory
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Computer Competency including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postsecondary school diploma in a related field (Baccalaureate degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, or equivalent; College diploma in Medical Laboratory Assistant/Technician)
- Transgenic mouse colony management
Microscopy experience
Contract Details:
This is a 1-year full-time contract with the possibility of renewal.
Salary:
Min: $ 21.067/hr
Max:
$ 30.443/hr.
