Accessing Opportunities at Côté Gold

DRILL MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN
The Drill Maintenance Technician repairs, troubleshoots, adjusts, overhauls and maintains Cote Gold's drilling fleet for safe and reliable operations. The drill fleet includes Epiroc's Autonomous Pit Vipers 231s, D65s and DM30s. The Drill Maintenance Technicians work collaboratively with the team to deliver execution of the integrated plan and schedule.


Key Responsibilities

Area 1:
Safe and reliable drill maintenance.

  • Perform thorough inspections of drilling rigs and tools, identifying and mitigating potential issues early.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, lubrication, and initiating component replacement program.
  • Regularly replace or repair wornout components to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Execute both minor and major mechanical repairs on site to DRILL MAmaintain equipment reliability.
  • Carry out standard adjustments and calibrations on mechanical systems of drilling equipment.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications.
  • Perform handson troubleshooting and repairs for equipment breakdowns.
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical issues in drilling equipment, promptly restoring functionality.
  • Identify maintenance backlogs during prePM inspections to plan and prioritize upcoming maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance checks to ensure continuous equipment efficiency.
  • Proactively inspect equipment, identifying and addressing minor issues early to prevent major repairs and reduce costs.

Operational excellence.

  • Commit to continuous learning and improvement.

  • Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
  • Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
  • Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).
  • Assist in developing procedures and controls for effective risk management in maintenance operations.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulations during maintenance activities.
  • Report potential hazards and suggest improvements for workplace health and safety.
  • Provide accurate and consistent technical reporting.

Area 3:
Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.

  • Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
  • Mentor and train new team members.
  • Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
  • Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
  • Diligently document maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and parts replacements, to provide comprehensive reports for management.
  • Collaborate effectively with the team to identify and resolve inefficiencies and problems.

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
minimum qualifications, formal education, certifications or equivalents- College diploma in heavy equipment technician or another related field.

  • Certificate of Qualification in Ontario or Red-Seal Certification as heavyduty equipment technician or other related field is considered an asset although equivalent technical experience will be considered.


Work experience - Nature & Length- A minimum of 5 years of experience in maintaining drilling equipment in the mining industry.


  • Experience maintaining EPIROC drills is considered an asset, specifically Pit Viper 231s and D65s.
Additional qualifications - Competency requirements

  • Experience with autonomous drilling is an asset.
  • Exposure to equipment condition monitoring.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Mining Act and Regulations.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Health and Safety Programs.
